1. Originality
The Nigerian Journal of Applied Behavioural Sciences (NJABS) is dedicated to the publication of peer- reviewed scholarly articles in the field of psychology and allied social sciences disciplines. Empirically based research articles, short communication, book reviews, and commentaries are considered for publication. The Journal, which comes out once in a year (June), is published by the Department of Pure & Applied Psychology, Adekunle Ajasin University, Nigeria.
2. Submission of Manuscripts
- Manuscripts should be typed, double line spacing in Times New Roman in font 12, and submitted as e-mail attachment to the Editor (e-mail: njabseditor@gmail.com). Only manuscripts submitted as e-mail attachments are acceptable.
3. Structure of Manuscript
- The manuscripts should follow the seventh edition of the APA Publication Manual. Specifically, the following format should be followed: •
- Cover page: This must contain the title of the paper, which must be concise and clear (not more than sixteen words), followed by author(s) name(s), institutional affiliation and contact address. Name of the corresponding author must be prefixed with an asterisk.
• Abstract: An abstract of not more than two hundred words (200) should be on the second page of the manuscript, this should be preceded by the title without the name of the author(s) or any form of identification.
• Body: The body of the manuscripts should contain the introduction, method, results, discussion, and conclusion. All tables, figures, and graphs should be inserted at the appropriate places in the article.
• References: All the authors cited in the body of the work must be properly referenced and listed in the reference section following the APA seventh edition format.
4. Organization of the Paper
The manuscript should be divided into five (5) sections;
- Introduction
- Literature review and hypotheses development
- Data and Methods
- Data Analysis and Discussions of findings
- Conclusion and Recommendations
5. Illustrations
- Manuscripts should not exceed 17 typed pages and authors should ensure that graphs, tables etc. are clear.
- Manuscripts submitted to NJABS are received with the assumption that they have not been submitted or under publication consideration elsewhere.
- NJABS applies the blind review mechanism in the review process.
- Please, note that the method section should be presented in the following format: Design and participants, Measures, and Procedure (where appropriate, the procedure should include the procedure of data analysis).
6. Headings
- The following sequence of headings should be used: 1, 1.1 (then 1.2, 1.3,.), 1.1.1 (then 1.1.2, 1.1.3,…)
- Please refrain from using fourth level sections/headers.
7. Footnotes
- In the text, footnotes are not permitted. They should be properly included in the context.
- Use smaller font size for table footnotes
8. Symbols and Abbreviations
- Please use widely accepted symbols and forms of abbreviation.
- If there is any doubt in your mind about a symbol or abbreviation given the full expression followed by the abbreviation, when it appears in the text for the first time.
9. Notification
- It is our desire to notify author(s) of decision on their manuscripts between six to eight weeks of submission. Where a revision is recommended, author(s) are expected to revise and resubmit within four weeks. Submission after the four weeks deadline means that the manuscript will be subjected to another round of review.
9b. Acceptance Notification
- Acceptance of a manuscript connotes that authors have transferred the copyright of the manuscript to the Nigerian Journal of Applied Behavioural Sciences.
- Author(s) of published articles are entitled to a copy of the Journal; but he/she can request for a reprint at the prevailing price.
10. References
References must follow the current edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th referencing style typed with single line spacing within a reference.
11. Peer Review Policy
NJABS adheres strictly to an accelerated and thorough double- blind review policy in which the identity of the reviewer and authors is not revealed to each other.
All manuscripts are reviewed as soon as possible, and the editorial decision is reached within 3-4 weeks of submission. There is room for authors to opt for fast track review of 2 weeks, but it attracts additional charges of ₦5,000 or USD10 respectively.
Manuscripts that fall under fast track option would be published, if accepted for publication within the specified period.
The reviewer recommendation determines whether an article will be
*Accepted;
*Accepted subject to minor corrections;
*Accepted subject to resubmission with significant corrections; and
*Rejected.
12. Publication Fee
Authors(s) are expected to pay a non-refundable manuscript assessment fee of N7, 000 (seven thousand naira)/ $15.25 USD (or its equivalent) to cover the cost of review.
Authors of accepted manuscripts are expected to pay a page fee of N25, 000 (twenty five thousand naira)/$54.38 USD (or its equivalent) to cover the cost of production. The fee covers peer review charges and publishing fee, as follows;

The peer review charge is paid on submission of the manuscript while the publishing charge is paid on acceptance of the article but before publication. The extra charges for fast track review will be paid on submission of manuscript.
Authors in Nigeria can make payment into the understated account (Note: You must be logged in), while International authors can make payment using Paystack.
